In Search of A Great Perhaps

"All those who wander are not lost."
I like to move about a bit and tell people all about it.

  • Today we actually made it out of the hotel! Hooray! We took the sky train (not as exciting as it sounds) into the city to have a little look around.

While there we wandered into Lumphini park which was actually really beautiful. All around the park are insane motorcyclists who have no regard for their own lives (or yours) and tuk tuk drivers. It’s busy and claustrophobic so it’s a nice change to go somewhere green. We were sat down by the lake when a monitor lizard climbed out of the lake. We were suitably freaked out. Kezia, in her haste to get away from the dragon like creature she thought would bite off her toes stabbed herself in the foot with a discarded kebab skewer. In actual fact these creatures are lovely and just want to leave you alone. We also saw a turtle.

Outside we accidentally wandered into Phatphong which was an eye opener. All around there tuk tuk drivers and randoms tried to lure us onto bogus tours but we just wandered on past. Thailand is like walking through boiling treacle at all times. The heat from the sun, the traffic and the wetness in the air just exhausts you.

When we got back to our station we were picked up by our shuttle bus as the river boat is still out of action. Within minutes the sky had gone black and it had started to tip down like I have never seen before. People were building concrete walls to shield their houses from the water as already streets are getting flooded. There was so much thunder and lightning as well.  It’s really sad to see as there is really nothing they can do. The weather is meant to get worse from Thursday so I’m just hoping we’re able to get down to Phuket and the airport remains untouched. We will probably be restricted to the hotel for the rest of our trip.

Despite the general whinging and despair of this post I am having a good time. We found doughnuts that look like sushi.
